What is a 15 minute neighbourhood?

As part of the two month long fellowship under the Bengaluru Moving campaign, we explored policy solutions and undertook advocacy and outreach initiatives for better transportation systems, by engaging with policymakers,  citizen groups, civil society organisations and media platforms in Bangalore. We undertook the survey phase of the project and assisted with the walking audits and design workshops.

The aim of the year long project is to integrate Malleshwaram’s existing footpaths and conservancy lanes into a network that prioritises the movement of pedestrians, especially the elderly, children and differently abled; and cyclists within the neighbourhood. This initiative is supported under the Sustainable Urban Mobility Accord (SuMA) launched by the Directorate of Urban Land Transport (DULT). The survey outcomes include user assessment through insights, arriving at parameters that can be used to work towards a pilot implementation and build consensus with the stakeholders on the same.
